For many women in Brisbane, stepping into a gym can feel intimidating.
Maybe you’ve battled injuries or chronic pain. Maybe you’ve tried classes that left you feeling unseen or unsupported.
Or maybe you’ve been told that power lifting is “too much” for you. Hannah Altman knows exactly how that feels because she’s lived it herself.
Hannah has been an athlete for as long as she can remember, representing at a national level in kayaking and later excelling in powerlifting. But her journey wasn’t always smooth.
Despite her achievements, she struggled with her own body weight and gym confidence. Those challenges became the very fuel that pushed her to study exercise science and dedicate her career to helping others who felt out of place in the gym.
Her path has spanned more than a decade in the health and fitness industry. From sales and management roles to hands-on coaching, Hannah has seen the industry from every angle.
Along the way she earned a Bachelor of Health Science and a PhD in the business of fitness, proof of her relentless commitment to understanding not just training, but the systems and environments that help people thrive.
Through her career, Hannah began to specialise in occupational pain management, chronic pain, and rehabilitation. Working alongside medical professionals and older populations, she discovered how powerful strength training could be for reducing pain and restoring quality of life.
This wasn’t just theory. Hannah built her career on the principle that everyone, no matter their size, age, or background, deserves to be fit, healthy, and happy. For her, inclusivity isn’t a buzzword; it’s a lived value.
She believes the barbell can be a safe space, a place where strength becomes a tool for empowerment and longevity.
What sets Hannah apart is the way she blends rigorous science with hands-on coaching.
Her PhD research sharpened her understanding of how fitness businesses operate, but her heart is at the barbell. She loves coaching lifters of all levels from first-timers learning to squat safely to competitive powerlifters chasing personal bests on the platform.
Her coaching is grounded in evidence, but her delivery is personal and empathetic. She knows the science, but she also knows what it feels like to walk into a gym and doubt yourself.
Like many women, Hannah has had moments of not feeling at home in her own body. She’s been on both sides of the spectrum: the high-level athlete pushing her limits, and the woman struggling with weight and confidence.
This duality is what makes her such a powerful coach. She doesn’t just prescribe exercises; she understands the emotions, the barriers, and the quiet victories her clients experience.
For her, every deadlift, squat, or bench press is more than a movement, it’s a reclaiming of self-belief.
At The Evolved All Female Gym, Hannah now focuses on helping women overcome pain, build strength, and discover joy in powerlifting.
Whether it’s rehabilitation, sports-specific training, or preparing for competition, she brings a depth of knowledge and compassion that puts clients at ease.
Her vision is simple but profound: exercise should be the highlight of your day, not a chore. Strength should feel empowering, not intimidating. And the gym should be a place where every woman feels safe, respected, and supported.

"Postmenopause hit hard for Helen, constant fatigue, a busy home life, and the weight just wouldn’t budge. With a move, rep hockey, and full-time work, she had every reason to pause. But by committing to smart strength training at The Evolved, Helen rebuilt her body. at 54"

“After a serious health scare, Tash turned her life around. As a night-shift nurse with a Coca-Cola habit, she swapped cardio for strength training, dropped 20kg, and reclaimed her confidence, all while working nights. Now, she’s not just healthier… she’s unstoppable.”

“At 50, Vicki was training hard but getting nowhere. After just 7 weeks at The Evolved, she increased her protein, lifted smarter, and unlocked visible abs, a 60kg squat, and her first chin-up. Her secret? Recovery, strength and the right plan.”
“Leni left a clinical rehab gym at 63 to chase a younger more energetic vibe. Now she lifts 40kg, rocks her favourite black skirt to a Goo Goo Dolls concert, and feels 30 years younger. She’s proof that age doesn’t define your limits, strength does.”
